Life on the Beach means relaxing and having fun whenever possible. The majority of Pinellas County residents are of working age and most Floridians take their vacations in Florida.

Native Floridians are the minority. Residents are usually from somewhere else. Although every state is represented, the most common original home states on the west central coast are Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan.

Of course living on the beach means living with the threat of hurricanes. The hurricane season of 2004 will go down in history as having the most hurricanes to threaten Florida within the shortest time period. A sense of humor helps to cope.
